What Are the Advantages of Buying New Vs Used Tractor Repair Parts?

The margin for error in if you are either buying or repairing parts for your agricultural or wood products, grows smaller. This applies as much to extending the life of your tractor or John Deere equipment, but it also means that even if you're buying a new tractor or skid machine, the devastation of an unforeseen problem is far less if it is a used machine.

Here are three advantages of buying new tractor or skid parts over buying used ones:

1. Whether the part is new or used is not the main issue. Either there's a mechanical problem with the machine or, occasionally, either the machine has a mechanical problem that cannot be resolved with the tractor, machine or attachment that they purchased. Either way, these problems will lower the overall production in whatever industry you are in. With a new part or a used part with a mechanical problem, they can produce it back to something that appears to be working again. This greatly minimizes damage due to breakage from shock or rotation and excess wear of a part that has been used previously by the machine. In most cases, the cost of the new machine is saved in exchange for there being no vicious circle of producing more downtime to fix the machine and no more production down time due to damage to the equipment or its tools. This is true of both the cost of the new parts, as well as repair to a brand new tractor or some other piece of equipment. Once a machine is no longer in service, it no longer works and, most importantly, the cost of replacement parts can be ridiculously high for items that have been used sparingly.

2. For the new farmer or the new operator, that some pieces of equipment have been previously owned by someone else and it is acting up. This is the least of their worries. If that machine is quickly and easily reproducible, and the only company that wants to obtain that gear is you, then this might not be a problem if all that your farm or ranch requires is that expectation. However, each year the farming season becomes more hectic, creates more work for you and causes possible mechanical problems that are not the fault of your tractor or yourself. Unfortunately, you need to recognize when your tractor or skid machine will no longer work and replace it as soon as possible. This is also true of machinery down-time, creating you need to have certain parts already in stock, physically available to you. Before you buy up all those parts, determine what is needed to get the production back in your industry and also if the machine or equipment has been fixed in prior years. It is far more difficult to replace a machine brand new than repairing an old one. Remember, the manufacturing will charge you for their time to perform all that is needed. Then, just because your equipment is functioning unrestrained, it can be expensive.

3. If you have recently purchased a Used John Deere tractor or skid equipment and you are calling in for parts, the main dilemma will be the ability of finding the parts. Although the older machine was original and built with original parts, they will not always be compatible with the subsequent upgrades that were made and probably require replacement parts. If this is the case, the next question, if all the right parts are truly available makes no sense at all; especially when you are asking for it all at a slightly higher unit price. However, if you have the skill and tools available to cut, drill, and modify the original values of the machine, you can weld on just the right nose plate for that particular model and your tractor, skid machine can easily be repaired and back in the field producing generating the revenue level you had previously spent for. If all the right parts are readily available, well then, you are correct in your assumptions, and you should be happy and satisfied with the income that you have generated during the season or vigorous growth period.

Of course, there will be other advantages of buying used rather than new, but those just end up being distractions from the most important task and goal to be reached, which is developing a business by enhancing your ability to help all those who can benefit from what you are offering. Knowing how to buy different types of used equipment and how to perform quality repair work will make the experience of buying or repairing a piece of equipment far less tedious. You will have more production and enjoy the experience all the more. That puts money in your pocket and extends the life of your equipment and, as a result, the value you receive for those parts.
